Cozumel Homes ("we," "us," "our") operates cozumelhomes.net. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it — for visitors anywhere, including the European Union/UK and Mexico.

Who we are

Cozumel Homes is a small, independently owned vacation rental business based in Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico. For any privacy question or request, contact home@cozumelhomes.net.

What we collect

Information you give us directly — when you submit the inquiry form on this site: your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and requested travel dates. We do not currently process online payments through this site, so we do not collect or store card numbers or other payment data here.

Information collected automatically — we use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site: pages viewed, approximate location (derived from IP address, not stored as a precise address), device and browser type, and referring site. This is aggregate usage data, not tied to your name unless you separately submitted the inquiry form.

Cookies and tracking

Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) in your browser to distinguish visitors and measure site usage. We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies, and we do not sell or share data with ad networks. You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings at any time, or opt out of Google Analytics tracking site-wide using Google's browser opt-out tool. Blocking cookies will not affect your ability to browse the site or submit an inquiry.

Why we use this information

We use inquiry-form information to respond to your booking request and communicate with you about it — this is a legitimate business interest, and where applicable under EU/UK law, our legal basis is either your consent (submitting the form) or steps taken at your request prior to a booking. We use analytics data to understand and improve the site — a legitimate interest, and where cookies require consent under EU/UK law, that consent is what authorizes analytics cookies.

How long we keep it

Names and email addresses submitted through the inquiry form are kept only as long as needed to manage the booking conversation — typically no longer than 24 months after your last contact with us, after which they're deleted, unless you ask us to delete them sooner or you become a returning guest we stay in touch with by your continued contact.

Analytics data in Google Analytics is retained according to Google's standard retention settings (currently 14 months), after which it's automatically deleted or anonymized by Google.

We do not keep payment data of any kind, since none is currently collected through this site.

International transfers

Google Analytics may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Google self-certifies under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and equivalent UK and Swiss extensions as its safeguard for these transfers. We do not otherwise transfer your information internationally beyond what's needed to operate this site and respond to your inquiry.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or object to our use of your personal information, or to receive a copy of it:

  • EU/UK visitors (GDPR/UK GDPR): the rights above, plus the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
  • Mexico (Ley Federal de Protección de Datos Personales en Posesión de los Particulares): ARCO rights — Access, Rectify, Cancel, and Oppose the use of your data.
  • California and other U.S. visitors: the right to know what's collected and to request deletion. We do not sell personal information.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
